Course Description

This short course aims to develop students’ knowledge and skills by introducing them to a broad range of art and design works, giving students the opportunity to explore the themes and concepts behind these influential pieces and the artists and designers who created them.

An exciting range of creative subjects, movements, and mediums will be studied, including painting, sculpture, installation, conceptual art, graphic design, fashion, architecture, interior design, and digital media. Ranging from lectures, seminars, and study visits; this course will encourage student participation and discussion around a range of canonical works by artists and designers. The course also encourages students to reflect upon the impact of wider cultural, global, social and political issues upon art and design practices in both historical and contemporary contexts.
