Anna McNay is a freelance art writer and editor, she is Deputy Editor at State Media. She contributes regularly to Studio International and Photomonitor and has been widely published in a variety of other print and online art and photography journals and newspapers, including The Guardian and Time Out.
McNay’s work spans a variety of formats, including reviews, profiles, interviews, portfolios and essays. She has written catalogue essays for WW Gallery, Espacio Gallery, the Mall Galleries and the Royal Academy of Arts.
Educated at the University of Oxford (BA, MPhil) and Birkbeck College, University of London (MA, History of Art), she is a member of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the International Association of Art Critics (AICA).
McNay’s background is in linguistics and she has held teaching and research fellowships at the University of Oxford and the Humboldt University, Berlin. She has taught at post-graduate level and lectured worldwide.
